    Managed Kubernetes from Germany

Fully managed with SUSE Rancher Prime, KubeOVN, and Gateway API. Four tiers — Free for PoCs, Dedicated for production. Data center locations in Germany, no vendor lock-in, no hidden costs.

    Why Kubernetes so often fails

    Complexity devours resources

Running Kubernetes yourself costs your team hundreds of hours per year. Updates, patches, monitoring, network configuration — instead of working on your product, your team is fighting infrastructure.

    Hidden costs at US hyperscalers

AWS, Azure, and GCP lure you in with low entry prices. But egress traffic, persistent storage, load balancers, and support plans quickly cost three to five times as much. On top of that, the US CLOUD Act puts your data sovereignty at risk.

    Compliance uncertainty

GDPR, NIS2, Schrems II, ISO 27001 — regulatory requirements keep growing. Companies that run their workloads with US providers risk fines and a loss of trust. German companies need German infrastructure.

    What sets focusnet Kubernetes apart

Fully managed with SUSE Rancher Prime

Professional cluster management via the Rancher UI. We handle updates, patches, and upgrades. You focus on your applications. Based on RKE2, the security-hardened Kubernetes distribution from SUSE.

    Sovereign cloud — 100% Germany

All data stays in German data center locations (Berlin and Hanover). No disclosure to US authorities, no CLOUD Act, full GDPR compliance. ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 2 certified. BSI C5 in preparation (Q3 2026).

    KubeOVN networking

Production-grade container networking based on OVN/OVS. KubeOVN delivers high-performance switching, native Kubernetes network policies (L3/L4), and per-tenant VPC isolation with dedicated subnets and routing rules. Static and dynamic egress routing built directly into the platform — without an additional service mesh layer. Granular network policies are directly manageable starting with the Business tier; Dedicated comes with full control over the CNI configuration.

Gateway API — a modern ingress model

Multi-tenant capable, granular routing rules, native TLS configuration. Included by default with Business and Dedicated. Not directly usable in the Flex tier (shared) — there, HTTPRoutes are forwarded to the host gateway.

    Generous fair-use egress

Egress comes with fair-use allowances: 500 GB per vCPU on Dedicated, 250 GB per vCPU on Flex/Business, a flat 100 GB on Free. No hard limits. Internal traffic is always unlimited and free of charge.

    Add-ons for production workloads

Harbor container registry — quota depends on tier, up to 200 GB included (Flex/Business/Dedicated), more available on request. S3-compatible object storage with flat-rate tiers from €15/TB (up to 50 TB), €12/TB (50–500 TB), €7/TB (from 500 TB). Additional building blocks on request: extended monitoring, logging, backup, container security, disaster recovery, GPU nodes (T4 / L4 / L40 / A100, in the Dedicated tier).

Your own cluster in 3 steps

    1. Choose a tier

Free for PoCs, Flex for dev/staging and small production workloads, Business for production with a dedicated IP and Gateway API, Dedicated for full control, a dedicated VLAN, and GPU workloads.

    2. Deploy

Your cluster is ready within minutes. Access via the Rancher UI or kubectl. Harbor registry and persistent volumes are usable right away. Deploy your first application the very same day.

    3. Scale

Grow with your requirements — switch tiers or use a custom configuration with pay-per-resource pricing: €18.25 per vCPU, €4.20 per GB RAM, storage at €0.15/GB/month (NVMe/SSD) or from €48/TB/month (HDD block storage). GPU nodes for AI workloads from €399 (T4) to €1,690 (A100).

    Who is focusnet Kubernetes for?

    German SMEs (Mittelstand)

Containerized applications without your own Kubernetes team — focusnet runs the platform for you. Start for free in the Free tier or choose a preset in the Flex or Business tier.

    SaaS and multi-tenant

Your own vCluster with an isolated control plane (Business), Harbor registry for your CI/CD pipeline, network policies for tenant isolation, S3 storage for backups.

    SMEs with compliance requirements

GDPR-compliant workloads without US provider risk. ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 2 certified, NIS2-ready, DPA pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. For higher requirements: dedicated infrastructure (Dedicated tier) with a dedicated VLAN.

    AI workloads

Bookable in the Dedicated tier: NVIDIA T4 (€399), L4 (€649), L40 (€990), A100 80 GB (€1,690) per GPU per month. GPU minimum term: 3 months.

    Frequently asked questions

What is included in the managed service?

Complete operation of your cluster: installation, updates, patches, the KubeOVN-based host network, the Rancher UI for cluster management, and technical support. Container registry (Harbor) — quota depends on tier, up to 200 GB included (more available). Persistent volume quota according to the selected tier. Manageable network policies starting with the Business tier. Extended monitoring, container security, and backup options available as add-ons.

Where are the data centers located?

focusnet operates its own platform at three data center locations in Germany — Berlin 01, Berlin 02, and Hannover 01 — with its own backbone and its own public AS. Data never leaves German territory. The locations are ISO 27001 certified and meet the highest security standards.

    Am I GDPR-compliant if I use focusnet?

Yes. focusnet operates all services in German data center locations and is subject exclusively to German and European law. There are no data transfers to third countries and no subjection to the US CLOUD Act. We provide you with a complete data processing agreement (DPA) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

    Which Kubernetes distribution is used?

focusnet relies on RKE2 (Rancher Kubernetes Engine 2) from SUSE — a security-hardened, FIPS-compliant, production-proven Kubernetes distribution. RKE2 is purpose-built for enterprise environments and receives regular security updates.

What is KubeOVN and why do we use it?

KubeOVN is a production-grade container network interface based on OVN/OVS. It delivers high-performance switching, native Kubernetes network policies (L3/L4), per-tenant VPC isolation with dedicated subnets, and static and dynamic egress routing directly in the platform — without an additional service mesh layer. All tiers benefit from the stable host network; granular network policies are directly bookable starting with the Business tier, and in the Dedicated tier the customer has full control over the CNI configuration.

Can I migrate my existing containers?

Yes. focusnet Kubernetes is standards-compliant Kubernetes. Existing container images, Helm charts, Kustomize configurations, and CI/CD pipelines work without modification. For complex migrations, we offer consulting services.

Is there a minimum contract term?

No. focusnet Kubernetes is billed monthly and can be canceled with 30 days notice to the end of the month. Customers who use term discounts (12/24/36 months with a −15/−25/−35% discount) commit for the duration of the term.

    What does egress traffic cost?

Every tier includes a fair-use allowance — no hard limits:

    • Free: a flat 100 GB per month
    • Flex and Business: 250 GB per vCPU per month
    • Dedicated: 500 GB per vCPU per month

Internal traffic between services is always unlimited and free of charge. If you exceed the fair-use allowance: a consultation, no automatic throttling.
